The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) is today commencing recruitment of the steering group of the pensions dashboards Industry Delivery Group, which will provide strategic direction for the development of the project, focusing on the interests of consumers and industry.
Pensions dashboards will ensure people throughout the UK have easy access to key information about what pensions they have, who manages them and what they are worth, revolutionising how people engage with their pensions throughout their lives.
The steering group will provide strategic direction across a range of topics to support the delivery of pensions dashboards by the Industry Delivery Group (IDG). The IDG is bringing together a delivery group made up of representatives from across pensions, fintech and financial services, consumer groups, regulators and government to drive forwards the technology that will enable dashboards to work. The steering group will represent consumers and industry, with a specific focus on building consensus amongst those who will be involved in and impacted by the implementation and rollout of pensions dashboards.
The steering group will represent the interests of consumers and stakeholders when reviewing the work of the IDG. In turn, the steering group Chair and Principal of the IDG, Chris Curry, will then take decisions to the MaPS Pensions Dashboards sub-committee.
The steering group will be made up of a small representative membership of 12 people, including the steering group Chair and IDG Implementation Director Angela Pober. The steering group will include representatives from the pensions industry such as pension providers, administrators, trustees and insurers; consumer advocacy groups and thinktanks; and the fintech and financial services sectors.
Candidates must demonstrate expertise in areas such as consumer advocacy, pensions provision and information, public service delivery, disruptive technology, big data or GDPR. They will require experience representing the interests of others as a member of a board, and experience representing their views to government and a number of other stakeholders.
Curry, Principal of the pensions dashboards IDG, said: “I am pleased to be
moving forward with the next step in the development of pensions dashboards in
beginning recruitment for the steering group. Our aim is to have a group that
incorporates the independent expertise of industry and consumer representatives
who understand first-hand how people engage with their pensions.
“We anticipate a high level of interest from both industry and consumer representatives and look forward to bringing together a steering group that will play a key role in delivering a trusted service that enables innovative pensions dashboards, helping people to better engage with their pensions and retirement planning.”
While the steering group will focus on setting the strategic direction for dashboards, there will be several opportunities in the near future for other engagement and working groups, to ensure wider stakeholder involvement.
Applications will be accepted until 25th August, after which a robust shortlisting process will take place with a selection panel made up of the IDG Executive, a MAPS board member and a representative from the Department for Work and Pensions. Appointments will be announced in the early autumn.

The role of the MAPS in delivering the
Following the Department for Work and Pensions feasibility study and consultation on pensions dashboards, the Money and Pensions Service has been asked to take a leading role in delivery. MAPS will lead the delivery of the initial phase of the pensions dashboards and will bring together a delivery group made up of stakeholders from across the industry, consumer groups, regulators and government. The delivery group will be accountable to the MAPS board, and MAPS are in turn accountable to the Department for Work and Pensions.
